The political battle over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) voter verification process has intensified into a full-blown confrontation. Akhilesh Yadav of the Samajwadi Party alleged that Booth Level Officers (BLOs) are working under extreme pressure, even drawing parallels to a recent death of a BLO in West Bengal. The Trinamool Congress escalated the attack, with Abhishek Banerjee accusing the Election Commission and rival parties of recycling outdated data to manufacture "fake hype" around voter list discrepancies. He also alleged misuse of central agencies and challenged opponents to face West Bengal's voters directly. Meanwhile, BJP have hit back, accusing the TMC of intimidating BLOs and issuing fake or backdated birth certificates to influence the electoral rolls.
