Mamata Banerjee Alleges Voter Deletions, Supreme Court Flags Key Issues In SIR Process

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee sharply criticised the Election Commission during a Supreme Court hearing over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, alleging mass voter deletions and unfair targeting of Bengal. Calling the Election Commission a "WhatsApp Commission," Banerjee claimed the exercise was aimed at disenfranchising voters. The Supreme Court has sought a response from the Election Commission by February 10 and directed the West Bengal government to submit a list of Class-II officers for deputation in the revision process.
