Attracted by a chain of rich coalmines and plenty of water, several big companies are setting up power plants in the Singrauli district of Madhya Pradesh. One such plant is the 1200-megawatt Essar thermal power plant. But the villagers are strongly opposing the setting up of the unit. Everyday, a villager Munni Bai walks five km to join farmers' protest against it.
