The government's ambitious Food Security Bill has finally got a cabinet nod after much delay and is ready to be introduced to the parliament for clearance. On We Mean Business, experts, Devinder Sharma, food policy analyst; Reetika Khera, associate professor fellowship at Institute of Economic Growth; Aditi Phadnis, political editor at Business Standard; Prof YK Alagh, economist and former minister of power, planning, science and technology, and Brinda Jagirdar, business economist, discuss whether the bill is worthy of being passed in its current form and if it is worth burdening the government's finances with such largesse at a time when fiscal deficit needs to be reined in.
