A leaked CAG report in Maharashtra names virtually all major politicians in the state including union minister Vilasrao Deshmukh for using political clout to get public land for family-backed trusts; this at concessional rates which meant a huge loss to the taxpayer. What is even worse is that ministers and MLAs in other cases gave false information about their income to get low-income flats. In some cases, MLAs with assets worth crores claimed a monthly income of a few thousand.
