There was a time, not too long back when Gadchiroli, in Maharashtra, used to be a name spoken in hushed tones. It was where Maoist insurgents called the shots in the jungles, and State Transport buses avoided plying to the interiors. By 2026 many of those insurgents have come over ground; they are working in factories that have come up in the region; there is at least one ex insurgent who is making a killing at the bourses. The question is - has Naxalism been finally curbed? Did the government's promise of a Naxal Free India by 31st March 2026 ring true? This is NDTV Focus RED END from Gadchiroli filmed and produced in the last week of March 2026.
