According to the report titled 'COVID-19 Third Wave Preparedness: Children's Vulnerability and Recovery', prepared by a committee of experts constituted under the National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM) which works under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), children might be at a similar risk as adults in the next COVID wave. On the other hand, various states are moving towards phased reopening of schools. Dr Rahul Pandit, Director-Critical Care, Fortis Hospitals, Mumbai and Member of the National & Maharashtra COVID19 Taskforce decodes the expected third COVID wave and if and when children should be sent to school.
