'Rule Of Law Must Come First Before Elections': Canadian MP On Bangladesh Violence

Canadian lawmaker Shuvaloy Majumdar has raised serious concerns over the situation in Bangladesh, stressing that the rule of law must be restored before any credible elections can be held. Speaking to NDTV, Majumdar said violence, persecution of minorities-particularly Hindus-and pressure on political activists have created an environment unfit for free and fair polls. He criticised what he called equivocation by the international community, including the United Nations, and urged Bangladesh to restore calm, uphold constitutional values, and establish law and order before planning elections.
