Rajeev Chandrasekhar Hits Back At Elon Musk Over Starlink, Says India’s Security Comes First

Former IT Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar has pushed back against Elon Musk’s criticism over Starlink’s entry into India, warning that no company can expect shortcuts when national security is at stake. Chandrasekhar said Starlink must understand India’s regulatory requirements and exercise patience, stressing that satellite communication technology poses complex challenges for surveillance, lawful interception and counterterrorism. He defended the government’s scrutiny of all three satcom applicants, asserting that they are being given equal opportunities. Chandrasekhar said Starlink must meet India’s requirements on safety, trust and accountability before expanding its services.
