These are many records that Narendra Modi has set in his journey of statesmanship. He is the first non-Congress prime minister to complete two consecutive full-majority terms and the first prime minister since Nehru to win three consecutive Lok Sabha elections as the incumbent leader. And on 10th June 2026 he beat Pandit Nehru's record for the longest stint as an elected PM of India. Nehru still has greater number of years in total because till the first general elections of 1951-52, he had been an unelected Prime Minister of the caretaker government. The challenges faced by the two Prime Ministers are very diverse, but a record is a record - and no one can deny that Narendra Modi has broken the one that stood for 62 years.
