Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Katra, security has been put on high alert at the Martyr Captain Tushar Mahajan (MCTM) Railway Station in Udhampur, where he will inaugurate the world's highest railway bridge, the Chenab Bridge, and flag off the Vande Bharat Express between Katra and Srinagar. A combined team of Government Railway Police (GRP) and a Dog Squad did a detailed sanitization of the Udhampur-Katra railway track, scanning the route and surrounding areas to ensure that there is no lapse in security during the PM's visit. Modi visited Jammu and Kashmir for the first time since Operation Sindoor, initiated after the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives, the majority of them tourists. The inauguration of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project is a momentous occasion, answering a long-held aspiration of millions of people in the area. Improved security arrangements have been made to make the event run smoothly amidst increased alertness.
