Mucormycosis or black fungus is a fungal infection being observed in a number of Covid-19 patients recently, especially those with uncontrolled diabetes and prolonged ICU stay. On the show today we will examine what this new fungal infection is, what are the symptoms and how it can be managed. Also on the show, the government has acknowledged that the double mutation is linked to surge in certain states in the last 1.5 months. WHO says B 1.617 is likely to be a variant of concern: it increases transmission and could be resistant to antibodies that are generated by vaccination or by natural infection. We ask if the vaccine will work.
