The Business Standard Awards 2012, organised by GMR, is a tribute to the strength and diversity of the country's corporate sector. Honorable President Pranab Mukherjee made the evening special with his presence as the chief guest of the event. Dr Y K Hameid, a renowned scientist and chairman of Cipla, became the first recipient of the Business Standard Lifetime Achievement Award, M K Hameid, managing director of Cipla, received the award on his behalf. Auto major Mahindra & Mahindra received the Innovative Company of the Year award; Bosch India the Star MNC award; Tata Consultancy Services the Company of the Year award, while Page Industries was presented the Star SME award, among others.
