Delhi saw an acrimonious and polarising election campaign revolving around the Shaheen Bagh protest against the citizenship law. As votes were counted, BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri told NDTV, "What is wrong with saying that traitors should be shot. After all, are such people not hanged after being tried. Traitors are hanged after a trial. We were talking about development in Delhi election."
