Type 1 diabetes on the rise in India

A recent survey by experts in Australia shows that the incidence of Type 1 diabetes is rising by three per cent annually. In most cases, it is caused due to the destruction of pancreas cells that produce insulin. The rate of increase is highest among children less than 14 years. But in India, many families are unable to cope with this disease, so now some hospitals in Mumbai are attempting to address through support groups.
