An illegal fireworks display triggering a massive fire at the Puttingal temple in Kerala's Kollam district has resulted in the loss of over a 100 lives and injuring 380 people. Despite the district collector having categorically denied permission, the temple authorities went ahead with an extremely dangerous fireworks display in the presence of close to 15,000 devotees.
