Maharashtra News | Raj Thackeray Faces Court While ED, Anti-Terror Squad Conduct Statewide Raids
MNS Chief Raj Thackeray appeared in court today in a major development in the nearly 17-year-old 2008 rioting and assault case linked to the Railway Recruitment Board row, now being heard in Thane. The judge has sought full cooperation to conclude the trial within a month. Meanwhile, the Enforcement Directorate and Maharashtra ATS launched overnight raids across Thane, Borivali, and Ratnagiri, probing financial links to extremist activities tied to illegal Khair wood smuggling. In a separate disclosure, the Maharashtra Government reported 781 farmer suicides in the last six months, with Vidarbha and Marathwada worst affected. The state says it is rolling out counselling and support measures amid alarming NCRB figures showing Maharashtra accounts for nearly half of India’s farmer suicides.
