In 2017, politicians and VIPs had to stop using red beacons on the directions of the central government. Now beacons have been replaced by sirens. VIPs are using these sirens on the roads to make their presence felt. The law does not allow sirens. The permission to use sirens is only given to select vehicles, such as those providing emergency services, including ambulances, fire brigades, and in certain circumstances, policemen. However, in Madhya Pradesh, they are being used brazenly by lawmakers.
