There is a major roadblock for Sanjay Dutt in the way of contesting the Lucknow seat for Samajwadi Party, as the CBI is likely to oppose his appeal in the Supreme Court in which he has asked permission to contest the elections. The apex investigating agency has put forward the argument that Dutt was sentenced in the 1993 Mumbai blasts case and has yet not been proved innocent. So if he is allowed to contest, it will set a bad precedent.
