The father of a girl who had alleged rape by a BJP MLA in Uttar Pradesh's Unnao district died in judicial custody on Monday. The 50-year-old man had been beaten up allegedly by the politician and his men last week. But he was the one arrested and placed in judicial custody on a complaint by his daughter's alleged rapists. What is worrying is that despite the girl being a minor and her case coming under the stringent POCSO Act, the police are yet to act against the MLA in question - only saying an inquiry has been ordered.
