Bengal Elections: 7 Judicial Officers Held Hostage For 9 Hours In Malda, Supreme Court Slams Mamata

In a shocking incident from West Bengal’s Malda, seven judicial officers were held hostage for over nine hours by angry protesters after names were deleted from the voter list. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has said she was unaware of the Malda hostage crisis involving judicial officers, blaming the Election Commission for taking over control of the state administration ahead of polls. She alleged a breakdown of law and order under the EC’s watch, calling it a “super President’s rule.” Meanwhile, the Supreme Court came down heavily on the incident, with Chief Justice Surya Kant terming it a “calculated and motivated” attempt to intimidate judicial officers. The top court has even suggested a probe by central agencies like the CBI or NIA. NDTV's Shubh Bhardwaj brings you the details.
