Bangladesh Faces Currency Note Crisis Worth 15,000 Crore Taka

In today's episode of India Global, As Bangladesh deals with economic challenges, a decision being attributed to the interim government may further impact its economy and create difficulties for citizens. A currency notes crisis has hit Bangladesh after reports say the Interim Government led by Muhammad Yunus has pushed forward with the decision to halt the issue of currency notes featuring Bangladesh's Father of the Nation, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. While the Bangladesh government has not issued an official communication regarding the decision, reports suggest that the abrupt halt in issuing currency notes featuring Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is leading to a shortfall of currency notes in circulation. To add to the trouble, the country's central bank will now look at dealing with old currency notes worth around 15,000 crore Taka. NDTV's Saurabh Gupta reports.
