Bangladesh’s first woman Prime Minister and Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) chairperson Khaleda Zia died on Tuesday at the age of 80 after a prolonged illness. The BNP confirmed her death on December 30, stating that she passed away at 6:00 a.m., shortly after the Fajr prayer. In a post on X, the party wrote, “Begum Khaleda Zia passed away today at 6:00 a.m., shortly after the Fajr prayer.” According to her doctors, Khaleda Zia had been suffering from multiple health complications, including liver cirrhosis, arthritis, diabetes, and chest and heart-related problems.
