With a near lockdown in Bengal since mid-May, Covid numbers in the state have come down to around 9,000 cases daily from the 20,000 daily cases at the peak, a few weeks ago. That has meant satellite centres set up by hospitals are almost empty and hospitals are beginning to shut them. But many are keeping the option open of restarting them at short notice, fearing a third wave.
