Container companies take a hit as haulage charges hiked

It has been a tough time for container rail operators for whom both volumes and profitability have taken a hit following an 150-170 per cent hike in haulage charges, fees paid for using Indian railways infrastructure, for domestic movement of certain commodities imposed in December by Indian Railways. The impact is highest for smaller private operators who are still struggling to find ground.
