Parliament Session | UPI Emerges As World’s Largest Real-Time Payments Platform: FM
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has said that UPI has emerged as the world’s largest real-time payments platform, highlighting the scale and reach of India’s digital payments ecosystem. In July 2026, UPI processed 2,366 crore transactions worth ₹29.9 lakh crore. Sitharaman said merchants benefiting from schemes such as PM SVANidhi, including street vendors, have also contributed to UPI’s rapid growth.
