Haryana and Punjab have improved their sex ratio in the last decade. In Punjab, the turnout of women voters in the 2014 Lok Sabha election was marginally better than male voter turnout. During the election, the major issues in Punjab, Haryana and the neighbouring states revolve around agrarian crisis, drug abuse and joblessness. However, women voters feel that despite all the promises made by political leaders regarding their safety and security, they have remained unfulfilled for a very long time.
