The Parliament passed the Election Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2021, today with Rajya Sabha approving it through voice vote amid a walkout by the Opposition. The Bill seeks to link electoral rolls with the Aadhaar ecosystem to weed out duplicate voters and fake votes. It was passed by Lok Sabha on Monday; Prime Minister Narendra Modi initiated the transfer of Rs 1,000 crore to women's Self-Help Groups in Prayagraj today in what his office described as a "one of a kind" scheme.
