'Stop The Censor': Will Amol Palekar's Petition Overhaul India's Censorship Laws?

From Udta Punjab to Lipstick Under My Burkha to now Raveena Tandon's comeback film Maatr, which deals with the issue of rape, the Central Board of Film Certification or CBFC has been cracking down on an increasing number of films for their content, their language, effectively for anything that the board, in its wisdom, deems offensive or inappropriate. Now for the first time in 47 years, India's censorship laws have been challenged in a petition in the Supreme Court by veteran actor and filmmaker Amol Palekar.
