Air pollution in the national capital improved slightly on Sunday, from severe to very poor, but it still remains much above the permissible limits according to the WHO. While the Delhi government has announced emergency measures like shutting schools and stopping construction activity, the Supreme Court had to intervene again. However, the question is why these emergency measures don't kick in as soon as the air turns severe. Activists have been campaigning for steps to curb air pollution rather than reacting to the crisis year after year.
