The DMK today released its manifesto for the Lok Sabha elections of 2024. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has promised more autonomy for states if the INDIA bloc is voted to power. Some of the key promises in the DMK's manifesto include an exemption for Tamil Nadu from NEET, the repealing of the CAA and a monthly sum of Rs 1,000 for all women across the country. This comes even as the Prime Minister himself has increased its outreach in Tamil Nadu, a state where the BJP drew a blank in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. On March 15, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made his sixth visit to Tamil Nadu in 2024. In the past few months, we have seen the celebration of Sengol as a symbol of pride, the Kashi Tamil Sangamam, and the Prime Minister's invoking of Thiruvalluvar and Subramania Bharti at the UN General Assembly. In a state that is marked by a distinct nature of Dravidian politics centred around Tamil pride and self-respect, will the BJP get its act right time?
