Jammu and Kashmir police have filed a case under the Arms Act against a close aide of fugitive Amritpal Singh for fraudulently procuring a gun licence in the former state where nearly 3 lakh gun licences have been issued over the years before the imposition of Governor's rule in 2018. Varinder Singh had managed a gun licence from Kishtwar district in 2013 and renewed it every year in four different districts across Jammu and Kashmir. Varinder, alias Fauji, was arrested by Punjab police a few days ago. He was booked under National Security Act (NSA) and sent to Dibrugarh jail in Assam.
