New Labour Laws Protest | Opposition Holds Protest In Parliament Over New Labour Laws

The opposition staged a major protest outside Parliament today, demanding the withdrawal of the new labour codes. Leaders including Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi joined MPs from Congress, DMK, CPIML and other bloc partners at the Makar Dwar of the new Parliament building. They accuse the Centre of weakening workers’ rights, curbing the right to strike, expanding contractualisation and ignoring core demands such as a national minimum wage of ₹400 per day, universal health coverage, an urban employment guarantee and comprehensive social security. This comes after days of disruptions inside both Houses. While the government and opposition have now agreed to hold discussions on SIR next week and on Vande Mataram’s 150-year anniversary on Monday, opposition MPs say labour issues must also be taken up. Visuals show heavy sloganeering, protest placards and a united opposition front pressing for debate on workers’ rights outside Parliament.
