The long-awaited Navi Mumbai International Airport commenced commercial operations on Thursday, marking a major boost for India’s civil aviation sector. The inaugural IndiGo flight from Bengaluru landed at 8 am, with passengers calling the moment historic. Initially operating 12 hours a day, the airport will handle 24 daily flights to 13 destinations, easing congestion at Mumbai’s existing airport and reducing travel time for commuters across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
