NASA Launches New Roman Telescope To Hunt Planets And Probe Dark Energy

NASA’s $4.3 billion Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope has blasted off aboard a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket from Kennedy Space Center, beginning a mission to explore some of the universe’s biggest mysteries. The bus-sized telescope will travel more than three months to an observation point about 1 million miles away, near the Webb Space Telescope. Roman will search for planets beyond our solar system, investigate dark energy and survey vast regions of the cosmos. With a field of view more than 100 times wider than Hubble’s, it will work alongside Webb, ESA’s Euclid and the Vera C. Rubin Observatory to deepen our understanding of the universe.
