The government rejected Meta's explanation that the takedown was caused by a technical glitch and summoned the company's top global executives for discussions with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). The issue has now raised questions over Meta's Safe Harbour protection under Section 79 of the Information Technology Act.
