Mamata Banerjee Vs ED | ED Moves Court Against Mamata Banerjee, TMC Files Counter Case

The Enforcement Directorate has approached the Calcutta High Court against Mamata Banerjee, the West Bengal DGP and the Kolkata Police Commissioner, alleging obstruction of an ongoing probe under the PMLA. In its petition, the ED claimed that the Chief Minister forcibly entered the residence of Pratik Jain, director of Indian Political Action Committee, during a search linked to the coal pilferage case, and that digital devices and key documents were taken from ED officials despite repeated requests not to interfere. The Trinamool Congress has filed a counter-petition, accusing the ED of seizing confidential campaign strategy and election-related data to derail the democratic process ahead of the 2026 West Bengal elections. Both matters are scheduled to be heard at 2:30 pm before Justice Shubra Ghosh. Senior advocate SV Raju will represent the ED, while TMC MP and lawyer Kalyan Banerjee will appear for the party. The hearing coincides with Mamata Banerjee’s announcement of a street protest in Kolkata, escalating the political and legal showdown between the Centre and the state.
