Maharashtra Transport Minister's Marathi Warning: Learn Language Or Risk Licence

Maharashtra Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik has warned drivers that refusing to speak Marathi will no longer be tolerated. Under the rule cited by the minister, drivers who do not know Marathi will receive a 30-day notice, followed by a three-month licence suspension and eventual permanent cancellation if they still fail to learn the language.
