Magh Bihu Celebrations Begin in Assam, Community Bonfires Light Up Guwahati

Assam is celebrating Bhogali or Magh Bihu, the harvest festival that marks the end of the harvesting season and the spirit of community living. From the Japurigog area of Guwahati, NDTV's Ratandip Choudhury brings ground visuals of Uruka community feasts and the lighting of traditional Meji bonfires at sunrise. People gathered with friends and families, offering prayers for peace and prosperity, even as this year's celebrations carry a subdued note, marking the first Magh Bihu without iconic singer Zubeen Garg, whose music had long been an integral part of the festival.
