Two trains heading to Peru’s Machu Picchu archaeological area collided Tuesday, leaving one person dead and 30 injured. Peru's national police said the deceased was the driver of one of the trains, who worked for Inca Rail. Among the injured were Peruvian and international tourists. Gen. Julio Cesar Becerra, Chief in Cusco region of Peru's National Police, said one of the injured is in serious condition. The numbers are being updated constantly.The accident occurred at 1:30 pm between the Corihuayrachina and Pampaccahua archaeological sites, in a remote, mountainous area, some 50 kilometers from Cusco City, the regional capital.
