The ongoing West Asia war and disruption near the Strait of Hormuz have triggered concerns over fuel supplies globally, raising fears of a potential LPG crunch in India. The restaurant and hospitality industry has sounded the first alarm, saying commercial LPG supplies have been cut sharply as the government prioritises domestic consumers. Many eateries say they are receiving far fewer cylinders than required, forcing menu cuts, use of wood stoves and warnings of temporary shutdowns. The government, however, insists there is no crisis, saying domestic LPG supply is being protected, production has been increased and refineries are running at full capacity. While authorities maintain India is prepared, the situation continues to be closely watched.
