Kyiv residents and volunteers began repairing damaged homes and infrastructure on Friday, a day after a deadly Russian aerial assault killed at least 16 people and injured around 40 others. The overnight barrage involved scores of missiles and drones, leaving homes, cars and essential services damaged across the Ukrainian capital and surrounding region. Residents described shattered homes and a lack of electricity and gas as volunteers joined cleanup and repair efforts. The strikes come amid intensified Russian ballistic missile attacks on Kyiv and Ukraine’s shortage of US-made Patriot air defence interceptors. Moscow said it targeted sites linked to missile, drone and ammunition production.
