Krishen Khanna Honoured With NDTV Masterstroke Lifetime Achievement Award
The NDTV Masterstroke Lifetime Achievement Award in Art is presented to Krishen Khanna, one of India’s oldest living artists and a pioneer of modern Indian art. Born in 1925 in Lyallpur, now in Pakistan, Khanna went on to become a key member of the legendary Bombay Progressive Artists’ Group, helping shape a bold new artistic language in post-Independence India alongside masters like F.N. Souza and M.F. Hussain. From the haunting News of Gandhi’s Death to the powerful Truck Series, his work has reflected social change, urban life and the human condition with remarkable depth. With over 40 solo exhibitions and works housed in major institutions worldwide, his legacy is both national and global.
