Kerala Assembly Elections: Chennithala Seeks Sixth Win In Haripad, Faces CPI, BJP Challenge

Ramesh Chennithala is contesting again from the Haripad constituency, a small temple town in Kerala's Alappuzha district. A senior Congress leader, Chennithala has served as the state party president and held various ministerial and organizational roles in both the state and central government. He has represented the Haripad seat since 2011 and had previously won it twice in the 1980s. Chennithala began his political career at a young age and became Kerala's youngest minister at 28. He is also considered a potential Chief Ministerial candidate if the UDF comes to power, though he downplays speculation when asked about his own ambitions.
