A traditional ritual procession in Dakshina Kannada’s Moodbidri turned chaotic after a decades-old footbridge collapsed mid-event in Puchchemogaru. The incident occurred as devotees were carrying the sacred ‘Daiva Bhandara’ of Sri Kodamanittaya Daiva during the Takode Barke Dharma Nema ritual. The bridge reportedly gave way after a supporting beam snapped, causing the palanquin to overturn and triggering panic among participants. Visuals of the collapse, captured during the procession accompanied by traditional music, are now circulating widely.
