Kalimpong Flooded After Cloudburst-Like Downpour

Heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds triggered flash flooding across West Bengal’s Kalimpong district, sweeping away bikes and scooters and bringing traffic to a standstill in several areas. Waterlogging and overflowing drains disrupted normal life in the hill town, with Haat Bazaar, 9th Mile and 10th Mile among the worst-affected locations. Residents have raised serious concerns over poor drainage infrastructure after even a brief spell of rain led to severe flooding across key roads and market areas.
