"Israel Accepted Truce, Hope It Accepts Ending The War": Palestinian Ambassador

Palestinian Ambassador to India Abdullah Abu Shawesh has described the release of hostages as part of the Gaza ceasefire as a “threshold in history,” offering renewed hope for peace after two years of devastation. In an exclusive interview with PTI, he said Palestinians have “started breathing again,” even as he lamented the ongoing suffering, with thousands still missing or buried under the rubble. Abu Shawesh emphasized that while Israeli hostages should never have been taken, the plight of 11,000 Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails must also be recognized. Praising US President Donald Trump’s recent efforts, he urged him to push for a clear declaration to end the war and lead a genuine peace process centered on the two-state solution, the creation of a Palestinian state comprising Gaza, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem.
