A wave of anti-government protests sweeping Iran has entered its ninth day, with human rights groups reporting at least 19 protesters and one member of the security forces killed so far. Fresh videos circulating online show demonstrations in Tehran and multiple provinces, including Fars, Ilam, North Khorasan and Semnan. Rights groups say the unrest has now spread to 26 of Iran’s 31 provinces, driven by a deepening economic crisis. Amid the escalating violence, US President Donald Trump issued a warning to Iranian authorities, saying they would be “hit very hard” if the death toll continues to rise. Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump said Washington was watching the situation closely, raising fears of heightened international pressure as tensions mount inside Iran.
