Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw attended a ministerial-level meeting in Washington hosted by US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, focused on strengthening global supply chains for critical minerals and reducing dependence on China. Finance ministers from the G7, along with officials from India, Australia, Mexico, and South Korea, discussed alternative sourcing, refining technologies, and long-term sustainability of rare earth supplies crucial for sectors like electronics manufacturing. While the talks ended without a joint statement, India underlined the need for resilient, diversified, and sustainable supply chains as global competition over critical minerals intensifies.
