India Issues Nationwide Alert Against Pakistan-Made Fairness Creams Over Heavy Metals Presence

India's drug regulator has issued a nationwide public health alert against two Pakistan-made skin-whitening creams after tests found excessive heavy metals beyond specified limits. The Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) has identified Goree Beauty Cream and Chandni Whitening Cream as unauthorised cosmetics and warned consumers against purchasing or using them. The alert, issued through a public notice dated September 8, 2026, comes amid concerns over unregistered cosmetics entering the Indian market. The regulator has also directed enforcement authorities to ensure the products are not sold, distributed or advertised.
